School concerts and workshops

When playing for children of the ages 6 – 10 years, Süperstar explain how to act when you visit a concert and tell us the story about how the crocodile became flat and how the elephant got his long trunk. The children travel together with Süperstar to the kingdom of Macaronia where the princess wants to get married but not to just anyone, it has to be a musician. The story ends in a competition where you can learn how the first brass band was formed and that it is most fun to play together. After dancing a Roumanian arm dance the children learn how to sing in Romani and the whole show ends in a ring dance, just like in Macedonia. 80 persons each concert.
To older children, aged 9 years old and up, Süperstar show 500 pictures from their tour in Macedonia 2002 and 2006. The photos have received a lot of praise for showing the joy and charisma which just exist in people from countries like Macedonia and Serbia. During the concert we tell about our friends and how it was when we first met them. We sing a Balkan rap with the children and teach them a dance from Rumania, using only their arms. Everyone gets to know where Macedonia is situated and some facts about the country. When playing, we offer the party music, which is played in the Macedonian weddings, birthday parties, suneti (circumcision parties) and funerals. The whole orchestra walk out among the audience, playing face to face to children and teachers. Up to 400 persons each concert.

Orchestra workshops for students at your music school.
The workshop:
We make a short presentation of ourselves, our instruments and the music we play. We play a few songs and teach two or three traditional songs from Balkan. Sheet music exist, but we prefer to play and teach by the ear. All the time we are supporting and conducting the ensemble. Together we make a concert for an audience.
Everyone can participate:
It’s possible for anyone to join in. The accompaniment is so easy that even those who have played only one term can take part. The melodies are challenging enough for the most advanced students. We create arrangements with the students and suggest how to build a song.

A suggestion for a concert is that we first play one of the songs together, then alternate Süperstar and music school orchestra and in the final everybody joins in a great big wedding orchestra.
